Welcome

Welcome to “Molluscs on the Edge” – the triennial conference of the Malacological Society of Australasia for 2024.
We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to malacologists from Australasia and around the world to the “Molluscs on the Edge” conference, which will be hosted in the vibrant city of Perth, Western Australia, Australia, in November 2024. The conference promises to be a captivating and enriching experience for all participants as we delve into diverse aspects of molluscan research, ranging from taxonomy and biodiversity to genomics, systematics, conservation, and aquaculture.
As we embark on this opportunity for sharing knowledge, we would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which this conference will take place, the Whadjuk Noongar peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present, and emerging, and recognize the connection they have with the land.
Centred around Perth’s cultural centre featuring the flagship, Boola Bardip, this conference provides a unique platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, bringing together a diverse audience including students, early career researchers, industry professionals, and senior researchers of various institutions. With a focus on fostering interdisciplinary discussions and networking opportunities, “Molluscs on the Edge” aims to push the boundaries of molluscan research and contribute to the advancement of our collective understanding of these fascinating organisms, while keeping a close eye on their conservation needs.
We look forward to your active participation, engaging discussions, and the establishment of lasting connections that will undoubtedly enhance the field of malacology. Together, let us explore the edges of knowledge in molluscan research and celebrate the beauty and significance of these remarkable creatures.
See you in Perth!
